1. Who this covers
This policy applies to the Phonics Adventure iPhone and iPad app from Ylemos Inc. Phonics Adventure is designed for children learning letter sounds, blending, and early reading with a parent or guardian. It does not require a child or grown-up to create an account.
Our general privacy policy covers other Ylemos apps, our website, and support communications. Phonics Adventure does not use the cloud features described there for other products.
2. Information kept on your device
To choose lessons, review weaker sounds, and show progress to a grown-up, Phonics Adventure saves on the device: up to four child profiles, each with an age range and an optional nickname of up to 20 characters; lessons completed and answer accuracy; per-sound practice results; stickers and Fox's Den items earned; and the starting lesson chosen by the short placement check. It also saves app settings such as sound, music, celebration level, and American or British pronunciation, and, if a grown-up chooses to answer it, the optional parent survey.
These records stay in the app's local storage. Phonics Adventure does not send them to Ylemos or anyone else, does not ask for a child's full name, email address, location, photos, voice recordings, or contacts, does not read device advertising identifiers, and does not use a developer-operated account or server. Please use a nickname rather than a child's real name if you prefer. Device backup may include local app data depending on your Apple settings.
A grown-up can create a printable practice sheet in the Parent Zone. It is generated on the device and is only shared if the grown-up chooses to print or share it through the standard iOS share sheet.
3. Speech and sound
Letter sounds, words, and story pages are read aloud using Apple's built-in speech voices on the device. The app does not use the microphone and does not record or listen to a child's voice.
4. Subscriptions
The first lessons are free. A grown-up may start an optional auto-renewing subscription, which may include a free trial. Apple StoreKit shows the price for your App Store region, processes the payment, and provides the app with a verified entitlement. One subscription covers every child profile on the device. Subscriptions renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period and can be managed or cancelled in your Apple Account settings, also reachable from Manage subscription in the Parent Zone.
To test which price works best, the app may show new subscribers one of two monthly prices. That group is chosen at random on the device and is not linked to any personal information. Ylemos does not receive your payment-card details or a copy of your child's practice records. Apple may provide Ylemos with App Store sales, diagnostics, and aggregated analytics according to Apple's services and your settings.
5. Notifications
If a grown-up allows notifications, the app schedules one local reminder on the device before a free trial ends. It is not a push notification from a server and is not used for marketing.
7. Children's privacy (COPPA)
Phonics Adventure is directed to children under 13. Because practice records and the optional nickname stay on the device and are never collected by Ylemos or a third party, we do not collect personal information from children as defined by the US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, for example by email, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Users in the EU, EEA, and UK
Ylemos Inc does not receive or process the personal data kept by the app, which is stored and processed only on your device under your control. The app is built with high-privacy defaults, no profiling, and no behavioural nudges toward sharing data, in line with the GDPR, UK GDPR, and the UK Age Appropriate Design Code. If you contact us, we process your message to answer it based on our legitimate interest in providing support, as described in our general privacy policy. You may ask us to access, correct, or erase any information we hold about you, and you may complain to your local data protection authority.
9. Your choices and deletion
A grown-up can open the Parent Zone and delete a child profile, which erases that child's progress, practice results, and stickers from the device. Removing the app removes all of its local data. Apple device backups and App Store purchase records may remain under your Apple settings and Apple's policies; a subscription can be restored through Apple.
10. Questions and changes
If a grown-up chooses to email us, we receive the contact details and message they provide and use them only to answer the request. Please do not include a child's name, school, photos, or other personal details.
Contact Ylemos Inc at service@ylemos-inc.com. We may update this page if Phonics Adventure changes; the effective date above identifies the current version, and material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
